Magic Johnson’s Daughter Elisa Shares Photo of ‘Intense’ Stomach Scars from Home Invasion
“Until now I’ve been so afraid to show these scars."
“As women we tend to be very hard on ourselves. Months ago, I escaped from a home invasion and in the process I was left with intense scaring on my stomach,” Elisa, 24, wrote on Thursday, alongside a powerful photo that put the scars on display.
Elisa went on to share that following the December home invasion, she had felt “incredibly insecure” about the scarring, but had recently come to embrace the marks as “a part of my journey.”
“Until now I’ve been so afraid to show these scars, and incredibly insecure about the way I look. But I now realize these scars are a part of my journey, and tell the story of who I am,” she wrote. “I love my body, and I am proud to be in the place I am today #selfhealing.”
Among the numerous supportive comments came two incredibly sweet replies from Elisa’s family.
“Preach ,” wrote her brother EJ, 26, while mother Cookie responded to the post with a series of red heart and blowing kiss emojis.
While spending time at an Airbnb with her friends, two armed men entered the home, according to TMZ. The outlet reported that the men began terrorizing the 10 guests, holding them at gunpoint.
Elisa, who was in one of the bedrooms during the robbery, overheard the disturbance and escaped out a sliding glass door, TMZ reported. She then ran down the street to safety.
A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department could not confirm to PEOPLE that Elisa was at the home during the home invasion, but did confirm that the incident took place. The LAPD also told PEOPLE that the two male suspects fled the property before police arrived.
Shortly after the robbery, Elisa seemingly responded to the incident on her Instagram story, writing, “God is so good.”
In addition to being the daughter of Magic and Cookie, Elisa is best known for her appearances on E!’s The Rich Kids of Beverly Hills and her brother EJ‘s spinoff EJNYC.
